Christ Representers

Updated: Feb 2, 2022

"We are Christ representers,

We are Christ representers,

And we shine our light so bright that we make them sing........"

These are the lyrics in the chorus of Jonathan McReynolds' song called "Christ Representers". I was listening to this song the night before writing this post and I was reminded of a time where talking about Jesus was a scary and uncomfortable topic because I felt I did not know enough and wary of what people would think of me. So, I decided to do a study on what it meant to be Christ Representers and it is a daily lesson to myself and I hope it will be the same for you too.

When it was time for Jesus to ascend into heaven, he spoke to his disciples and said these words in Matthew 28:18-20, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age". This is the great commission we have been given as believers and followers of Jesus Christ to share the good news of Jesus to the people around us and the world.

This involves us denying ourselves and letting the Spirit move and be what people see as it implies in Galatians 2:20 that we have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer us who live but Christ who lives in us. This means we need to let our light shine as it says in the song but also in Matthew 5:14-16 about being the light of the world. in the midst of darkness and troubles, we can be the source of light that people encounter and will bless them and urge them to want to know more.

The population of humans in the world is a lot and we all belong and assume the citizenship of where we reside. We also may desire to be a citizen of a different country due to perks, way of life, schooling, jobs etc. As we are proud to associate ourselves with being British, Spanish, American, Nigerian, Chinese, Indian etc, the same way we need to be proud of our identity in Christ, shouting it from the rooftops who we serve and live for.

We should not be ashamed to proclaim what we believe. We all can admit to ourselves that there are times when doubt and fear creeps in so we need to remember. Reflect and remind yourself of why you chose to follow Him in the first place. When I have felt like just staying quiet instead of defending my God, I remember why I serve Him. He has completely transformed my life for the better and his love for me is relentless. I want others to experience God's love and to be saved and become part of His family. This is why I call myself a Christ Representer and combat that fear of speaking about Him, and I pray people's lives are transformed through his light that shines through me and you.

This was a great reminder and I hope it does the same to you as well. So make that decision again to still serve and represent God as it says Joshua 24:15 "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...... But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord". Reinforce your belief in God and choose to serve him whole-heartedly. I pray that when we are stuck trying to choose between the world and God that we will choose God daily. I pray that we stay grounded in your word and we are armed ready for battle against the enemy in Jesus name.

As it says in the end of the song "Christ Representers",

"let the redeemed of the Lord say so,

Live so, walk so......"

Live and walk like you are part of the body of Christ because you are. With your passport (the bible), the Holy Spirit living in you and with God ordering your step, proudly and boldly proclaim the good news all for the glory of God in Jesus name, Amen.
