Setting the Mood

Updated: Feb 2, 2022

Music is a whole mood. I'm sure we will all agree that listening to music affects us. It helps us with whatever task we're doing. This could be cleaning (can already hear in my mind one of my sister's saying this is my favorite thing to do lol), studying, driving, getting ready to go out, exercising, as a mood-changer or just to sit in it and relax which is one way I use it. I come from a musical family where singing and worshiping is at the centre. Myself and one of my older sisters love musicals and always find ourselves singing at random although we get told to shut up by our mum if the key is too high and we can't reach it or we're too loud. But that passion and fun while singing is a gift which I am thankful for and I use that to praise my God.

The same way we use music to make us feel good or have in the background while working etc, we can use music to create an atmosphere where we invite the Lord to come and fill the space we're in. It is another way of communication with our Father! God loves music and He loves a worshiper who isn't afraid to profess their love for Him through singing. God doesn't care if you can't carry a tune - He is pleased enough that you are praising Him. Worship and praise songs have so much power in the words and we need to listen to the words of the songs we're listening and pay attention to them. We can use these songs as a prayer as well. I do this a lot when I don't have words so I just put a playlist either on my phone or YouTube and I sing and let the Holy Spirit guide me.

It says in Psalms 100:1-2 "Shout to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs". It also says in verse 4 to "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name".

God deserves our praise and we will never run out of things to be greatful for because there is so much to thank Him for. Sometimes we just need to go to Him and thank him without asking for anything.

Praising shouldn't feel like a chore. It should be something we do without hesitation. When we are going through things, worshiping makes us feel better, reinforces our faith and reminds us of what He is capable of doing that we leave knowing He's got it under control.

So here is two playlists I created for when studying the bible and when you just want to worship and be in the moment with God. New songs will be added at random(of course, you can use them for other reasons the Holy Spirit tells you to).

Happy Listening Unashamed Tribe!
