The Name Of Jesus
Updated: Feb 2, 2022

"Your name is a light that the shadows can't deny,
Your name cannot be overcome.
Your name is alive forever lifted high,
Your name cannot be overcome".

P.S: NEVER IGNORE A PROMPTING FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!
I was prompted to listen to this song before sleeping which then led to a bible study about the name of Jesus and a time of reflection. As I write this post late at night, I wonder to myself how we can underestimate the power that the name of Jesus carries and this includes me. I know for a fact that sometimes when I've said a prayer especially if I've rushed it for whatever reason at the time, I normally end it with "in Jesus name I pray, Amen", but I used to say it just as a way to conclude my prayer and sometimes forgot to really reflect on what I've prayed and the power behind my prayer. (don't rush your prayers).
In Philippians 2:9-11, it says "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
The above verses talk clearly about the name of Jesus holding so much power to it that when it is called upon, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. We can call on the name of Jesus in our day-to-day lives and into our situations and believe he will come to us. It also says in James 2:19 that "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder." The lines in the song "Tremble" at the top of this post is incredible. The darkness cannot stand the name of Jesus. The devil alongside evil cannot stand the name of Jesus.
It's a bit crazy thinking about it and letting it sink in that the devil and evil fear God. If they know the power the name of Jesus has, then how much more convincing do we need to know that with Jesus, we are more than conquerors and knowing we have Him on our side willing to walk with us and help us along our journey by sending the Holy Spirit is just the most uplifting & re-assuring thing I needed to hear right now and I hope it is to yourself as well.
We literally need Jesus for everything. He is the way, truth and life and we go to the Father through Him (John 14:16). So keeping in mind all of this, we need to then carry out God's work without grumbling as it says in Philippians 2:12-14. We have and will always have Jesus on our side helping us. When it gets tough, turn to Him and his word to remind yourself and feed your spirit with His truth. Especially in the time we are living now, let us cry out to the Lord to heal this land and restore it. The Lord hears our prayers and knows what is going on. We just need to remember God's timing is never wrong and comes just at the right time.
I was recently told something that really made me understand the seasons we go through much better and it was "You live life forward but understand it backwards". In the moment, we don't understand but when we go past the hurdle and look back, things make sense and we understand why we had to go through things. There is a bigger picture to things right now. We just need to keep on praying/interceding on behalf of this world, feeding our spirits and pouring out to others, doing God's work and calling on the name of Jesus which "the shadows can't deny."
Amen.
